Nothing beats seeing the look on your child\u2019s face when\nthey open the gift they\u2019ve been hoping for all month. However, amongst the\nlessons of gratitude for receiving presents, it\u2019s also a great time to teach\nyour young owns about the gift of giving, and how we can impact the lives of\nothers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giving for Appreciation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While it is always nice to receive a\nthoughtful gift from a loved one, doesn\u2019t it feel just as nice and rewarding to\ngive one? Teach your child about how giving even small, homemade gifts can let\nsomeone know that you are thinking about them and value their love or\nfriendship. Help them come up with a gift for their family, classmates and\nteacher, and you may even make a fun craft night out of it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giving Back<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though there are plenty of opportunities to\nvolunteer or donate year round, the holidays tend to have more available\nthrough work or school. Giving doesn\u2019t always have to mean wrapping up a new\ntoy for your child\u2019s sibling or grandparent &#8211; it can also mean giving back to\nthe community and those who are less fortunate than us around this time of\nyear. Pick a cause together and dedicate some time to learning together about\nhow you can help, and why it\u2019s important. This could be collecting canned goods\nfor the local food bank, or fulfilling another child\u2019s holiday wishlist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Give for Thanks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another small act of giving is sending\nthank-you cards to family members after the holidays have ended.
